There is a lot of competition among bloggers on the internet. Because of this, it is important to do your best to have a blog that appeals to your readers in every way. Unfortunately, many bloggers are great writers, but do not know how to capture and keep their audience. This is because their is a difference in being a good writer and being a good blogger. Luckily with a little tweaking, your blog can become much more successful than it is currently. Here are 4 things that could be killing your blog, along with solutions.

Infrequent Posts

Depending on what you are blogging about, you may want to think about how often you are posting. If you do not post enough, you could lose you readers interest, if you post too often, you may be bombarding them. Ideally, any blog you have should have a few posts a week. This will help with SEO efforts to get natural traffic, and be enough for your readers to enjoy your postings. Any more than that, and it may become overwhelming, as your writing should be a commodity. Too frequent of posting can also cause you to burnout and lose your creative edge.

Boring Topics

Many bloggers kill their own blog simply by writing about boring topics. Of course one opinion of boring may differ from others. If you do write about a boring or bland subject, at least try to make it humorous and fun. No doubt, any blogger should write about what interests them, as that is the point of blogging. But, when choosing a subject for your blog, make sure it is interesting. Though, you should never blog about a topic just because it is popular, do something you like.

Ignoring SEO

Many bloggers really get stuck when doing SEO, or ignore it all together. Blogging should be done to blog, but SEO should be taken into consideration. You do not have to be aggressive with link building, or hire out a company to do your SEO. But, at least learning the basics of SEO, and even installing plugins that can help. Linking your social networking sites to your blogging site can help with SEO. Of course, a well written blog will not need a huge SEO overhaul, but taking it into account will certainly help drive traffic. With all of the blogs out there, you need to stand out.

Closing Comments

A lot of comment systems are abused on websites, by people trying to spam the site. This is a problem of course, but do not shut off comments all together. If you can moderate your comments, and approve the good ones, you will engage with your readers more. It may take a lot of time, but it is well worth it. The great thing about blogging is the communication with your followers.

When blogging, it is essential to follow these four tips. Blogging is not as simple as just logging onto your computer and writing. A good blogger should write natural and should attract a following with their decent writing. But, you should take a few steps to be certain you will keep your followers and even add many more.

  • Thanks for your tips.

I definitely think that frequent posting is a crucial element in having a successful blog. Even if the blog still does not have a huge following after so many posts, it’s still good to continue posting.
