I Quit: You All Lied

Like Tweet Pin it Share Share Email

You read it right..I quit. You all lied to me. Ok, so not really, but I know you were wondering what the hell you were gonna do without me!

So, if I am not quitting, then why all the hoopla? Simple explanation: Blogging is hard work! You know this already, I am aware. You all didn’t really lie to me, but it’s fun to lay blame, huh?

Ok, so let’s get to it then. I have read all of your SEO, traffic generation, guest posting, and list building tips. I have read til my eyeballs were ready to fall out and rub the red out themselves. I have notebooks full of notes and graphs and lions, tigers and bears.

The bottom line is that you can read and read but that won’t make you a success. Implementation is the only thing that can save you now. And just because you implement doesn’t mean it will work for you. As a blogger, you have test things on your own, find what works for your platform. Even if that entails banging your head against the computer hutch door…repeatedly.

As I have been learning, everyone has an opinion on marketing and how to go about succeeding. My job and your job, is to decipher the information and put it to practical use. The hard part is waiting…yes the waiting is the hardest part…or so says Tom Petty.

I have been listening to you and implementing your tips and I am suffering from impatience. I am seeing results, but not the results I WANT…and that is the real issue. Their is a big difference between what I want and how the business works. So, appreciating the small successes is what I am working on now.It is not an easy task. I have gone so far as to say, I quit! You all lie! But, then the anti-blogger leaves me and I snap back to reality.

I know it takes time and dedication, hell I blog about that aspect. Sometimes, we may lose our vision and forget our goals. The true test is to find a way to pick yourself up again and keep fighting.  So, I will continue to read your tips, implement your ideas and report back my successes along the way.

I will do all I can to make my posts standout and be unique in my presentation. I implore you to do the same. As I always say, we are in this together and leaning on the community is the best remedy to the “I suck” blues.

Okay, lunatic rant has ended. What is your blogging kryptonite?

  • No, no, no, you have it all wrong. You actually had expectations; I have found if you set your goals low enough you will never be disappointed…………………yikes……….:).

We probably have different agendas as you could call me just a recreational blogger if I can even wear that label. I think you have to be seen (or heard) before you have to worry about labels. However, I feel like I have been lucky enough to somewhat plug into the ‘in’ crowd.

All along this journey my ‘peeps’ have been very helpful and telling me of just about every tool I might need. My problem is w/ somewhat limited ‘computer time’ I spend more time engaging than figuring all the other stuff out. For now, at my level, I think it works ok; it just means I fly under the radar until I’m ready to take it up a notch.

I think my next step is to link into the people I engage with the most to bring some kind of organization to all this, so I might have to pick your brain. I have some pretty sharp IT guys where I work who are also in the twitter universe, but I want them to think I’m smarter than I really am……….:).

That was great for @ginidietrich to feature you today; she was my entry into finally understanding twitter and jumping in with both feet. She gave me some credibility and now she is probably thinking, ‘man, I can shake this dude; he’s worse than a green booger’…………..I’m like you, if I can love someone on twitter it’s definitely Ms Gini; she’s the absolute best.

Ok, I’m here and I really want to engage with you so if it’s not always pretty please bear with me as I really can’t claim being a social doofus anymore, but still clunking around a little bit.

  • Blogging's like that for everyone when they start out. Hard work and perseverance pays off.

That, and not letting it get to you!
