Using Online Programs to Help You Reach Your Daily Writing Goals

Writers of all kinds have one thing in common: They sometimes experience what is known as writer’s block. While it’s true that for some, this is due to nothing more than laziness or procrastination, for others, it is true writer’s block. And when that hits, it can seem nearly impossible to reach any set writing goals.

Let’s begin with a discussion of what writer’s block really is. To put things quite simply, this is the experience of not having the words to continue (or in some cases, to begin) writing. The ideas and words just do not come to mind.

Writer’s block can be caused by fears. This can be the fear that the work will be rejected or that it won’t measure up in some way. This is especially true for new writers. Other fears can relate to exposing the writer’s own vulnerabilities or shortcomings.

The Subconscious Mind Speaks to Us

When a writer exposes the fact that he or she does not know anything about a certain subject or that he/she has certain fears or worries, countless people, sometimes hundreds or even thousands, become aware of that fact. With that in mind, writers have to carefully consider what is shared with readers.

Writer’s block can also stem from limiting beliefs that are associated with completing tasks. Whether this is rational or not, all of us have certain subconscious beliefs that relate to the completion of tasks. These beliefs can go back to the early days of our childhood. In fact, it could be related to something as simple as a parent not liking a picture we colored, or perhaps upon completing a beautiful page in a coloring book, the page got torn.

Those childhood memories can have long-term effects that are etched in our subconscious minds. Even as adults, we may have limiting beliefs based on those childhood experiences. So without realizing the basis of some of our behaviors, our subconscious minds are speaking — and we are listening.
